It's the Oscars, Baby!

Last Sunday was the Oscars. The Oscars are our friend Justin's biggest day of the year. We have a party every year, a black tie affair. This year we received swag bags with items that represented some of the biggest movies of the year and we had to guess what movie each item represented. We had bubbles, chicken noodle soup, garlic, a penny, ramen, a Modelo, and a ping pong ball. We also received our ballots in the bag. It is always such a great time trying to fill out these ballots when you haven't seen all of the movies nominated. I will say though, this year, I had a pretty good idea of what was going to take home the award due to Rhi and I watching the Golden Globes and the Actor Awards.

I would like to take a moment to say, if you have not seen My Mom Jayne on HBO Max yet...you should take some time to watch it. It was not nominated, but it should have been. We could have turned it into a drinking game the amount of times we all mentioned this movie that night (okay, so maybe it was Rhiannon and I mentioning how it was snubbed, but everyone else played along).

On a real note, there were so many good movies that came out this year, so if you get a chance you really should try to see them. I was very pleased with several of the winners, specifically Amy Madigan for Weapons and Michael B. Jordan for Sinners. The entire house screamed when both of these incredible actors took the stage.

So while this party was happening, the Knicks also had a game that I did not want to miss. So, I propped my phone up on the chicken noodle can and watched the game as we all watched the Oscars. I kept everyone up to date on what was happening during commercial breaks and I am sure they were very grateful. It was a stressful game. At one point I was quietly talking to Jalen Brunson, telling him what I needed him to do through the phone while Jessie Buckley was accepting her award for best actress. I said something like "Come on JB, get in there" and Justin turned and said "I have a feeling you're not talking to the JB on TV, huh?" before the whole room started laughing. What can I say, I get passionate. The Knicks won at the same exact time that we found out Justin won with the highest scoring ballot of the night (I came in 4th). Thanks, Justin, for letting me crash the Oscars with some Knicks energy, too!

I just really want to say that I love these little traditions that we have with our friends. I love that we all support each other and show up for each other, even when our interests don't always align. I am so grateful for these incredible people.
