About Alexandria

Hey y'all! My name is Alexandria and I am training to run in the NYC Marathon! If you know me, you are probably wondering how this came about. Don't worry, I shocked myself too.

In January 2026, I was talking to my therapist about the charities that my wife and I would be donating to this year. One of our favorite YouTube channels holds a charity stream every year, so my wife chose this as her donation. We decided that for every video they upload this year, we will put $5 into a savings account and that will be what we donate to the charity stream.

I told my therapist that the foundation I wanted to donate to was the Joyful Heart Foundation but I wasn't sure what I could do to trigger moving money into a savings account since they don't have weekly videos. She brought up the NYC Marathon being one of the JHF's ways to get involved. So, she suggested that I put $1 back for every mile I walked this year. I thought that was a good idea, but the problem is...I am not someone who walks ever so I wasn't sure that would work. After my session, I took some time to think about it and decided, eh, I will just sign up for a monthly donation instead of saving all year.

The more I thought about it, I realized that I was at a crossroads in my life. I left the community theatre that I loved so much, I am planning to move across the country to be closer to my family again, and have really been lost as to what my purpose in life is. So, I decided what the hell...lets start training and see if I can't work my way up to possibly the Joyful Heart Foundation's team for the NYC Marathon for my 40th birthday in 2031.

That's how this journey came to be. 5 years. 5 years to go from someone who always finds the closest parking spot, loves being horizontal, and hasn't walked in over 10 years to someone who is running in one of the biggest marathons in the world.

I am terrified, excited, and hopeful! But what is life without fear...as my wife loves to tell me...DO IT SCARED. So, I hope you will stick around for the adventure!
