Here's to 35!

Tomorrow is my 35th birthday. I (along with Rhiannon) am very shocked that I am not dreading it as much as I thought I would. My 23rd birthday was a lot for me. That was the one I freaked out the most with, but I am pretty chill about 35. In fact, I am excited for it.

I used to fear aging. I used to say that I would never make it past 50, but these past few months, something has flipped and I am really excited to see how far this life takes me. I had lunch yesterday with a friend and we were talking about aging (she is going to be 50 next year). I told her that I was no longer scared of getting older. She said that she feels that 35 was the year she became an "adult". It is the age where people start taking you serious and not seeing you as young and naive. I have to agree with her. This past year, I have started feeling like the "adultier adult" in the room. The one people look to for help/advice instead of the one always asking.

I have seen several memes over the years talking about the success of some celebrities and how for some of them, the greatest times of their lives came later. Kathy Bates did Misery at 43. Melissa McCarthy became a household name at 41 with Bridesmaids. Mariska Hargitay started SVU at 35. I think this has helped me embrace getting older. It doesn't mean things are ended...sometimes it is just the beginning.

Some of the things that I am looking forward to for year 35:

• Watching the Knicks in the Playoffs!

• NYC- Seeing Every Brilliant Thing (with Mariska Hargitay), Chess (with Lea Michele), touring Madison Square Garden, the Museum of Natural History.

• My sister in law is finally marrying the love of her life.

• Summer in Michigan with our friends.

• Chicago- first train ride, Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum (DINO SUE!!!), Showman's Rest

• I will officially be running my first 5k this year FOR the Joyful Heart! (Got confirmation this week!)

• A girl's weekend with our friend!

• I will be officiating a wedding for a friend on Halloween.

• Renewing our vows this November.

• Going to Georgia.

• NYC (again)- Seeing Galileo (with Raúl Esparza), The Goat, or Who is Sylvia (with Pedro Pascal and Sarah Paulson).

This is just the beginning for me. Rhiannon and I are at a place in our lives where anything is possible. We have so many dreams and are itching to get started bringing them to life. I am finally figuring out who I am and what I am wanting from this life. I am slowly starting to find my purpose again. It is going to be a busy year, so stick around! I am so glad you're here!!!
