February Recap!

February was not what I had wanted it to be when it comes to this journey. I walked on the treadmill a couple of times, but my health anxiety really took a toll on me in February. I started the month off sick with some kind of respiratory infection that took me out for the first two weeks. After I got better, I was terrified to start walking again. I think I walked on the treadmill twice after that. I did, however, start walking outside of the house a little more.
As I mentioned in my about me, I think, I used to find the closest parking spot when we would go places. Well, in February, I noticed that I haven't been doing that as often. Before, I would park at a store at a strip mall and then get back in my car and drive to the next store. Well, Rhiannon and I went shopping a while back and instead of moving the car after each store, we just walked the strip, popping in and out of stores. On the way back to the car, Rhiannon asked if I was in pain...I wasn't. This was a huge deal for me. I used to need a cart in the stores because my lower back would hurt within the first 5 minutes of walking. But we walked for over an hour, no cart, no pain. This gives me so much hope for the future of this journey. Also, something that I have been telling myself is that this journey isn't just about the walking/running aspect, there is a lot that goes into running a marathon. I have been working on changing my diet, working on the mental roadblocks that I have hit, and taking care of myself as a whole. I have to give myself grace, too.
Even though February didn't pan out like I had planned, we did have a great month! Here are some highlights:
Went to our first Knicks game.
Went to a Spirit Game.
My Joyful Heart Foundation hoodie and hat came in!
Got the complete series (seasons 1-25) of Law & Order: SVU on DVD
Rhiannon has been in rehearsals for her best friend's one woman show that they took to competition in Chattanooga, TN this weekend.
Saw SO MANY movies in theaters (including my 2nd favorite movie of all time, Breakfast at Tiffanys).
Spent lots of time with friends that we haven't seen in a while
My goals for March:
Stand on the treadmill every day.
Apparently if you do something everyday, and add a little more whenever you feel like it, you can overcome your fear (at least that's what my friend Amy tells me she learned from a podcast).
With the weather getting nicer, I would like to walk outside more (weirdly, I don't have anxiety about this)
Write more.
Watch all movies nominated for Best Picture for an Oscar.
Happy March Y'all! #JoyfulJourneyHappyHeart
